Position Description Teacher of Religion Teacher of Religion Position Overview:
Central Catholic High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educator to join its Religion Department as a high school Religion teacher. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and innovative professional educator who is committed to the academic, personal, and spiritual formation of young men in a Catholic, all-boys educational environment. Candidates should demonstrate a love for teaching, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a desire to collaborate with colleagues to support student success and advance the mission of Central Catholic High School. Rooted in the Lasallian tradition, the school seeks individuals who will inspire students to grow as Men of Faith, Men of Scholarship, and Men of Service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Religion Department and the broader school community to help students deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith while fostering thoughtful discussion, moral formation, and a spirit of service to others. Final hiring for this position is contingent upon approval from the Diocese of Pittsburgh Catholic Schools Office, in accordance with diocesan policies governing the employment of Religion teachers in Catholic schools. Full-time, 10-month per year, exempt position, Federation of Pittsburgh Diocesan Teachers Tenure track Primary Responsibilities
  • Embrace and exemplify Central Catholic High School's mission to form and educate young men to be Men of Faith, Men of Scholarship, and Men of Service.
  • Uphold and promote the Lasallian Core Principles including: o Faith in the presence of God. o Commitment to quality education. o Inclusive community. o Respect for all persons. o Concern for the poor and social justice.
  • Teach five sections of Religion in collaboration with the Religion Department.
  • Actively participate in curriculum development and ongoing review within the Religion Department.
  • Engage fully in Central Catholic High School's faculty formation program and contribute to a culture of ongoing professional growth.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to remain current in content knowledge and instructional practices.
  • Support the broader school community by participating in co-curricular, extra-curricular, service, and/or retreat opportunities centered on student growth.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative spirit by assisting with departmental initiatives or school-wide projects as needed, at the discretion of the Principal and/or the President of Central Catholic, while maintaining full adherence to the Federation of the Pittsburgh Diocesan Teachers' contract with the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with education and experience.
Position Requirements:
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, all current clearances and background checks required by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Education, or a related field required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience at the secondary level is strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to coach high school athletics and/or moderate student extracurricular activities is a plus.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, is required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
in the course of classroom duties.
