Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructs assigned classes. Plans a program of study and employs a variety of instructional techniques to meet district curriculum goals and objectives; and individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor. Establishes, maintains, and implements standards of classroom management that support instruction. Assesses and reports student performance as required. Identifies students at risk and seek appropriate support and involvement of resource personnel to enhance instruction and student welfare. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative directives and regulations. Communicates and works cooperatively with parents and staff regarding student needs and progress. Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Arrives at the designated job site according to the established work schedule. Other duties may be assigned.
OTHER MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Assumes responsibility for materials, equipment and facilities. Responds positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement. Makes lesson plans available for use by a substitute as required by school district procedure. Works to stay current in subject and/or content area as well as instructional techniques. Directly supervises the work of classroom paraprofessional.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to reach above and below the waist. Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. Some stooping, bending and twisting of the body required. Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs. Ability to sit, stand, walk or move throughout the building and/or office, often for extended periods of the workday.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical office environment. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
TEMPERAMENT
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. Able to make appropriate decisions and work under high level of stress.

Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to organize tasks. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to exercise good judgment.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year to be established per the collective bargaining agreement.
