Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies teacher to join our team at Bridges Academy Austin. Small K-12 nonprofit private school Class sizes of about 10 students per class Courses, such as World History, World Geography, US History, and Government/Economics, with 1-2 per year. For 2026-27, the cohort is taking World History. High school and middle school classes. The school specializes in helping students with dyslexia, gifted/2e, and other learning differences. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to explore the complexities of social studies. This role requires an individual who can meet the diverse needs of students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, so experience with inclusion or resource would be helpful. Requirements Bachelor's degree Teaching certification (out of state is fine) Teaching experience Live in Austin, Texas Authorized to work in the US (no visas) Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and promote critical thinking. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, to support student learning. Create an inclusive classroom environment that accommodates special education needs and encourages participation from all students. Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall improvement of the educational program. Stay current with best practices in social studies instruction.
