Formation at Episcopal High School means orienting our loves and training our attention so that we might live lives of meaning. It is rooted in Jesus' interpretation of the Law as love of God and Love of Neighbor. and is a collaborative effort across several disciplines. The members of the Religion Department play a key role helping our students develop skills necessary to live out our mission of "living meaningful lives in service to others." In addition, religion faculty are to safeguard and exhibit the strongest support for the core Christian beliefs and traditions of EHS, especially the Religion pillar and Chapel program. Faculty at Episcopal High School report to their respective department chair for guidance, support, and accountability in teaching. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Support the school's Mission & Guiding Principles as well as the school's DCI Statement & Priorities through appropriate words and actions. Design, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, and resources that facilitate active and effective learning. Develop, administer, and provide feedback on various types of assessments that are timely and appropriate for achieving course objectives. Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for learning. Develop and maintain strong rapport with students and provide one-on-one assistance as needed. Incorporate technology effectively and regularly. Keep parents, advisors, and school leaders informed of student progress. Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and fulfill all required elements of the Advisory Program. Lead by example in Daily Chapel, including Family Chapel. Attend and engage actively in department meetings and other required school events. Share resources, assist, and collaborate with fellow faculty. Fulfill other elements of the school's Essential Expectations and Standards of Excellence in Teaching.
Minimum Qualifications:
MDiv or equivalent degree in Christian Scriptures, History, World Religions, or Ethics. Prior teaching experience preferred. Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively. Ability to supervise and manage multiple functions and activities.
