Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic High School Human Geography teacher to inspire students and foster a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of global societies, cultures, environments, and spatial relationships. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards in human geography, integrating AP style guidelines where appropriate. Develop engaging instructional materials using diverse learning technology tools to enhance student understanding and participation. Foster an inclusive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth. Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on research projects, college preparation, and career exploration related to geography. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and educational best practices to ensure a cohesive learning experience. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and lesson plans while ensuring compliance with educational policies and standards such as the Chicago Manual of Style for written assignments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geography, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in education are preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching high school students with a focus on social sciences or geography. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies aligned with higher education standards. Familiarity with AP style writing, copy editing, proofreading, and standardized testing procedures. Experience working with diverse learners including special education students and those in private or Montessori school settings is advantageous. Excellent communication skills coupled with organizational skills necessary for effective lesson planning and classroom management. Knowledge of research methodologies, library services integration, and the use of learning technology tools to enhance literacy education.
