Job Description

Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Social Sciences teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a range of History and Social Science classes, including courses such as Government, Psychology, and Economics. The ideal candidate is someone versatile, who is open to teaching a wide range of courses and grade levels, including AP courses. A candidate should demonstrate a willingness to work as a team player and take on an active role in the vibrant Miller School community. A candidate should be inspired by the mission of Miller School and embrace the opportunity to be an example of our "mind, hands, and heart" philosophy for our students.
The ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in History or a related field required; a postgraduate degree preferred. Experience teaching a range of History and Social Science courses at the high school level. Experience teaching AP classes is desirable but not required. A passion for working with young people, coupled with a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners. Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA's after-school programming. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Outside the classroom, the position includes 2 seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 8-9 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team. The starting date for this position is August 2026. This is a full-time position, with healthcare and retirement plan benefits.
