Faculty Position - Part-Time Intermediate School Latin Teacher The Potomac School - McLean, VA 22101 Apply Overview Position Type Part Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Category Education Apply Description The Intermediate School Latin Teacher vacancy is a part-time position reporting directly to the Head of Intermediate School, starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This position is responsible for teaching two sections of Latin to students in grades 7-8.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach two sections of Intermediate School Latin. Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements. Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies and goals into the lesson plans. Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in the classroom, and maintain a positive educational environment for all students. Correct assignments, administer tests, observe, and evaluate students' progress. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and other teacher training workshops. Demonstrate qualities to inspire student learning, including an understanding of the characteristics of the age group taught. Work in an organized, dependable, patient, and creative manner. Provide students with additional support outside of class as needed Communicate with the IS team and parents regarding student academic concerns Design and execute one on-campus cultural experience or field trip for each class Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Fluency in Latin required. A minimum of two years' teaching experience at the Middle School level. Skilled in writing and preparing lesson plans. Ability to communicate, motivate, and understand the students' educational and emotional needs. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents, and members of the community. Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.
