A. degrees, one in Art, one in Art History and one in Design. We invite highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a temporary pool of part-time teaching appointments in all three of these areas. This application is for Art History instruction. Mission, Vision, and Core Values Department Mission Statement The Art and Design Department at CSUDH offers rich arts education and programming. We offer three distinct B.A. degrees for study in the areas of Art, Art History and Design, with minors including Art, Art History, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Digital Graphics, and Photography. Our world-class faculty provides support to students in and out of the classroom. We take full advantage of existing in one of the world's great art centers and the tremendous diversity that is Los Angeles. The Department cultivates rigorous, cross-disciplinary programs that prepare students for professional and post-graduate work. Graduating seniors from Design and Art organize presentations and exhibitions of their work as a final culmination of their tremendous efforts. The B.A. in Art provides foundational knowledge that encourages students to CREATE utilizing the newest technologies with traditional art media. Our B.A. in Art History students EXPLORE and learn critical thinking skills and visual literacy, bringing them into the rich world of the Humanities and asking them to research art from many eras and cultures. With the new B.A. in Design, students learn the different aspects of design in the areas of print, web, UI/UX, illustration, photography, motion design, and CONNECT to the professional industry through required internships.

https://www.csudh.edu/art/ The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the department's curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Qualifications Required Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline. A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division Art History courses (300
  • or 400-level).
Employment Requirement Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
