Job Description

Education and Experience :
A Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Spanish required. Three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary or secondary level in an appropriate academic discipline preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Ability :
Possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught. Effective classroom management and student engagement skills. Be able to teach the subject matter effectively and communicate clearly with students. Ability to develop and teach online /distance learning courses. Must be efficient with using computers and learning various electronic systems such as Etrieve (electronic forms), Eagle Self Service and Blackboard. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Ability to manage email and respond to emails in a timely manner.
Essential Functions:
Teaches assigned classes using syllabi, tests, and textbooks approved by the department in accordance with established professional practices in the teaching area. Maintains designated number of office hours and counsels, advises, and guides students in matters related to the class and on related academic issues. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date. Assists the Department Chair in evaluating, updating, and improving departmental policies, practices, syllabi, materials, and equipment. Maintains professional skills and subject expertise through continual involvement in professional development activities. Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, progress, and resources available for struggling students Executes any other duties assigned by the Department Chair.
