Faculty Position - Middle School Spanish Teacher The Potomac School - McLean, VA 22101 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Category Education Apply Description The Middle School Spanish Teacher vacancy is a full-time position reporting directly to the Head of Middle School. Potomac is looking to fill this vacancy starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This position is responsible for teaching Spanish to children in grades 4-6.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach two grade levels of Middle School science. Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements. Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources. Conduct classes almost exclusively in the target language. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies and goals into the lesson plans. Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain a positive educational environment for all students. Correct assignments, administer tests, observe and evaluate students' progress. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and other teacher training workshops. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Fluency in Spanish required. A minimum of two years' teaching experience at the Upper Elementary/Middle School level. Skilled in writing and preparing lesson plans. Ability to communicate, motivate and understand the students' educational and emotional needs. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community. Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.
