CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Faculty Affairs acts in an advisory capacity, serving as a consultant to faculty at UHealth/Miller School of Medicine. This role manages Faculty Affairs policies and procedures and provisions in the Faculty Manual. This job works closely with faculty members, Department Chairs, and staff to establish, maintain, and improve and effective support the faculty life-cycle processes.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Ensures timely delivery of Faculty Affairs services. Counsels and advises faculty and staff on internal faculty practices, procedures, overall organizational policies. 2. Manages general inquiries about faculty benefits, conditions of employment, and other policies or programs. 3. Manages leave of absence process for faculty including collaborating with requesting faculty member and leaders to ensure compliance with University policy, applicable laws (including FMLA), and the Faculty Manual. 4. Conducts routine meetings with respective business units in order to assist clients in meeting/exceeding their objectives. Recommends new approaches to affect continuous improvement. 5. Assist the Sr. Manager of Business Operations with the Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure process. 6. Ensures all requested faculty personnel actions are compliant with the Faculty Manual and University policy and procedures, as well as adhere to established employment laws and guidelines. Provides the appropriate guidance to leadership staff. 7. Organizes, submits and ensures the maintenance of HR information into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Maintains open lines of communication with Human Resources and ensures transactions are processed timely and accurately. 8. Manages voluntary and affiliate faculty appointments, courtesy appointments and observerships. 9. Assists with recruitment of Basic Sciences faculty including providing support throughout the recruitment process, job offer process, and onboarding of a new hire. 10. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication, both verbal and written, with all client groups in order to effectively represent department services and provide Faculty Affairs services that meet client needs and facilitate change. 11. Under the supervision of the Executive Director will complete special projects or assignments as required, which may include participation on committees, calendar/meeting scheduling, and coordination of special events, etc. 12. Develops working relationships with university business units and administrators to facilitate faculty affairs operations. 13. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on the controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Organizational Development:
Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.

Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.
Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
