The Office of Undergraduate Education and the Pre-Law Advising Center are seeking a Part Time Lecturer to teach Moot Court to undergraduate students, and to coach teams selected topete in invitational and regional moot courtpetitions. Lecturers teach one undergraduate Moot Court course in each semester and attend live and virtual moot courtpetitions as scheduled. Minimum Education and Experience An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline/topic and a record of productivity and professional achievement. Preferred Education and Experience An earned JD from an ABA accredited law school, and at least five years of experience in the legal profession. Some experience in appellate practice is preferred. Other Qualifications To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and teach undergraduate classes and/or labs; Maintain contact with student population in the classroom and via electronic learning platforms (eLearning); Contribute assessment information and data as requested through the administration and the Assessment Team; Participate in course evaluation surveys.
Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and teach classes regarding the skills of appellate advocacy and moot courtpetition. Maintain contact and schedule participation in practices andpetitions for members of the moot court team. Attend both virtual and in-person moot court tournaments and as the responsible party as representative for the university. Some weekend travel will be required, including travel by air and operation of rental vehicles, and supervision of university students during participation at out-of-town events.
