Position:

K-12 Teacher Librarian

Estherville Lincoln Central Demoney Elementary, Middle School, and High School Libraries

Summary:

The K-12 Teacher Librarian supports student learning by providing access to information resources, fostering literacy and research skills, and promoting a culture of reading across all grade levels. This position collaborates with teachers and staff to integrate information literacy, digital citizenship, and inquiry-based learning into the curriculum while managing and maintaining the school library program.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a comprehensive K-12 library program that supports district curriculum and student learning Teach and support information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship across grade levels Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and instructional strategies into classroom instruction Promote reading and literacy through programming, book selection, and student engagement initiatives Manage and organize library collections, including acquisition, cataloging, and inventory of materials Provide guidance to students and staff in selecting and using print and digital resources Maintain and oversee library technology systems and digital resources Support equitable access to information and resources for all students Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families regarding library services and resources Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and ongoing professional development Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements Follow all applicable state and federal school library laws and regulations Teach exploratory courses at the middle school level as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Valid Iowa teaching license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Teacher Librarian endorsement (K-12) or willingness to obtain
