Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities Programming & Outreach
  • Plan, develop, and present engaging programs for children and teens, including Storytimes, STEM/STEAM activities, summer reading initiatives, book clubs, gaming events, and teen workshops
  • Design inclusive, developmentally appropriate experiences for diverse audiences
  • Conduct outreach to schools, childcare centers, teen centers, and community partners
  • Support and participate in library-wide events and initiatives Technology & Innovation
  • Lead youth-focused technology programming (coding, makerspace activities, digital literacy, media creation)
  • Maintain and expand hands-on learning environments such as a Tech Playground or makerspace
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in youth services
  • Assist patrons with digital tools, devices, and online resources Collection Development
  • Select, evaluate, and maintain materials for children and teens in print and digital formats
  • Ensure collections reflect diversity, inclusion, and community interests
  • Perform weeding, inventory, and collection analysis
  • Recommend materials based on usage trends and patron needs Customer Service
  • Provide reader's advisory and reference services to children, teens, and caregivers
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment
  • Respond to patron inquiries and resolve concerns professionally
  • Promote access to library resources and services Staff Support & Collaboration
  • Supervise and support part-time staff and volunteers
  • Assist with staff training related to youth services and technology
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment Administration & Operations
  • Maintain program statistics, reports, and documentation
  • Assist with scheduling, planning, and departmental organization
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
