The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Community Engagement Librarian to join our team, someone who is passionate about building meaningful community partnerships, expanding access to library services and connecting people with resources that improve lives. We are seeking a dynamic and community-focused candidate to coordinate community engagement initiatives, including pop-up libraries, community partnerships, and social services programming. This role offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the Library's presence throughout the community and foster meaningful connections through innovative and responsive engagement. This is a full-time, salaried position working 37.5 hours per week, with days, nights and weekend flexibility as needed. The hiring range for this position is $57,837-$69,400, based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. Position Summary:
As the Community Engagement Librarian at Schaumburg Township District Library, you'll play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships between the Library and the community. We seek a collaborative, organized, and innovative individual to coordinate pop-up library services, support community outreach initiatives, cultivate partnerships with community organizations, and support social services programming through collaboration with local agencies. In this role, you'll coordinate logistics and staffing for pop-up events, provide training and support to staff, identify and develop community partnerships, and represent the Library at community engagement initiatives and outreach events. The Community Engagement Librarian must also strongly advocate for equitable access to library services and support the Library's strategic initiatives of building connections, future readiness, community responsiveness, and meaningful outreach opportunities. The hours for this position are: Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with flexibility to work nights and weekends for programs and events as necessary. Requirements for

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Engagement Coordination:
Coordinate the Library's pop-up library initiatives, including scheduling, logistics, staffing coordination, material preparation, setup, and ongoing operational support
Partnership Development:
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, and community groups to expand awareness of and access to library services
Social Services Support:
Coordinate and support social services initiatives by working with local social workers, agencies, and community organizations to provide responsive programs, resources, and referral opportunities for patrons
Staff Support:
Support staff participating in pop-up libraries and community engagement initiatives, ensuring consistency in service delivery, operational procedures, and community engagement practices
Community Representation:
Represent the Library at community events, partnership meetings, and pop-up library initiatives, fostering positive relationships with patrons and community stakeholders
Program and Partnership Coordination:
Collaborate with library staff and community partners to coordinate programs and engagement opportunities that reflect community needs and promote equitable access to services and resources
Outreach Assessment:
Track pop-up library activities, participation statistics, staffing needs, and partnership outcomes to assess effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement and growth Education and/or
Experience:
Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution required Experience in community engagement, outreach services, public programming, partnership development, or public service required Knowledge of, or experience working with, social service agencies, community resource navigation, or trauma-informed public service preferred The deadline to apply for the job posting is: July 7, 2026.
