Job Description

The Longmeadow Storrs Library is seeking a Director of Library Youth Services. Position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and managing all aspects of library services to children, their caregivers, and young adults.
Successful candidate must have:
Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of public library programs and services to children and young adults. Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to learn new software as needed. Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and customer service skills. Proficient in the use of computer programs Microsoft Office and Google Suites, email, Internet search engines and website maintenance. Master's Degree in Library & Information Science, from an ALA accredited program, and 3 to 5 years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Master's degree preferred. Salary $64,548 to $68,503 DOQ/DOE; Excellent benefits .
