Job Description

Ware Junior Senior High School is seeking an exceptional, student-centered Media Specialist to join our community of educators, learners, and leaders. The successful candidate will foster a welcoming, inclusive library environment that promotes literacy, inquiry, research, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Media Specialist will collaborate with teachers and staff to support curriculum, integrate information literacy skills, and provide students with access to diverse resources that enhance learning and academic achievement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and maintain the school library/media center as a welcoming and engaging learning environment Promote reading, literacy, and independent learning among students Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum and instructional goals Teach research, information literacy, digital citizenship, and media literacy skills Assist students and staff in locating, evaluating, and utilizing print and digital resources Curate and maintain an up-to-date collection of books, digital resources, and instructional materials Support the integration of technology into teaching and learning Plan and implement programs and activities that encourage student engagement with reading and learning Maintain accurate library records, circulation systems, and inventory Provide professional support and resource recommendations to faculty and staff Participate actively in school initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure in Library, All Levels Demonstrated knowledge of library science, information literacy, and educational technology Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families Ability to engage and inspire students with diverse learning needs and interests Commitment to collaboration and teamwork
COMPENSATION
$54,373 - $93,870, commensurate with experience
