The Consortial Systems Librarian reports to the Head, Consortial Library Systems and Operations within the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) Library Consortium. The incumbent provides technical support and functional expertise for our third-party applications and shared systems, including EZ Proxy and Alma / Primo VE. As part of the Systems and Operations Team, this role serves all members of (USMAI) Library Consortium and works with other USMAI team members to meet operational objectives and maintain current systems and services. The Consortial Systems Librarian supports excellence through system and subject matter expertise, especially in electronic resources systems and troubleshooting, acquisitions functions and general system administration. This role troubleshoots issues and responds to member problems through Jira Service Management and Salesforce, and fosters collaboration by liaising with consortium committees, communities, and working groups in suggesting and drafting policies, procedures, and program development. The incumbent must have or develop broad and detailed mastery of these systems, especially in electronic resources, to help the consortium maximize efficiencies through both workflows and system integration. This is a highly collaborative role that supports 17 diverse academic institutions across the State of Maryland and requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. PTK Faculty Information This position is appointed as a professional track faculty member within the Faculty Specialist Ranks as established by the University of Maryland. This is a non-tenured, contractual position. Rank at appointment is based on the successful applicant's experience and relevant credentials. Library PTK Faculty must demonstrate accomplishment and/or evidence of potential future accomplishments in 2 areas: 1) librarianship, which includes the assigned area(s) of responsibility and professional development; 2) service, which includes participation in library, university, local, and national committees and professional organizations beyond the assigned area(s) of responsibility.Physical Demands:
Sedentary work involving remaining in place for long periods. Office setting has light to moderate noise. Occasional Travel.REQUIRED
Education - Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or a non-USA equivalent; or a graduate degree relevant to the position's duties. Degree must be conferred by Start Date. Experience - Minimum Qualifications One year of experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS) or other library system Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)s - Minimum Qualifications Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with strong interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of technology troubleshooting principles Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems Strong verbal and written communications Familiarity with shared library systems and vendor ecosystems.
