Non-Union To view a full and complete job description, please visit: https://ironwoodcarnegie.org/ Library Director Role OverviewThe Library Director manages all operations, services, and staff of the library, ensuring alignment with policies set by the Library Board of Trustees and state requirements. This is an exciting Director role that receives City Benefits, including a Pension and reports directly to the Library Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities Administration:
Implements board policies, develops plans and goals, ensures legal compliance, manages technology, and maintains relationships with library organizations and the community.
Personnel:
Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and manages all staff and volunteers.
Financial Management:
Prepares and manages the budget, oversees spending, leads fundraising efforts, and handles grants.
Collection Management:
Oversees selection and maintenance of library materials.
Facilities:
Maintains the building and grounds, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Public Relations:
Acts as the library's main representative, engages with the community, and handles media communications.
Digital Media:
Manages the library's website and social media strategy, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
Programming:
Develops and oversees educational and community programs for all age groups. Qualifications Management or supervisory experience required; bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience). Skills in leadership, budgeting, technology, programming, fundraising, and communication. Knowledge of library laws and operations. Ability to work independently, make decisions, and engage effectively with the public. Work Environment Primarily office-based with some community outreach. Requires communication, computer use, mobility, and occasional lifting (25 lbs). May involve travel, weekend hours, and varying noise levels depending on activities.
