Job Description:
The Mount Vernon City School District is looking to a hire a Library Media Specialist for grades 7-12. The candidate must possess the required certification/license and demonstrate an understanding of informational literacy. Job description details and expectations include: Plan, prepare and facilitate learning experiences that actively engage and challenge students. Experience with instruction on informational and technology literacy skills, including the research process. Engage students in the research process and assist them with selecting sources of information. Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress. Familiarity with national and state standards for informational literacy and technology. Stay current with the most recent developments in appropriate subject areas as initiated by the school or district. Provide for the care and protection of school property and instructional resources. Collaborate with other educators to design and implement informational literacy strategies to engage students and enhance instruction. Provide leadership and expertise in acquiring and evaluating resources in all formats. Handle revenues and expenditures for the library budget. Participate in department, school, and district meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
