Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant library team as a Young Adult Services & Programming Specialist, where you'll ignite the imaginations of young adults through engaging programs, innovative outreach, and life skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the library experience for teens and young adults, fostering a welcoming environment that encourages learning, creativity, and community connection. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will help cultivate a space where young minds thrive and explore new horizons. Duties Develop and implement innovative programs and events tailored to young adult interests, including workshops, book clubs, and digital activities. Curates and recommends books, digital media, and resources specific to young adult audiences using databases and cataloging systems. Assist patrons with library services, providing excellent customer service while guiding them through available resources and programs. Manage data entry and record-keeping related to program attendance, collection usage, and feedback using integrated library systems. Conduct research on emerging trends in young adult literature, media, and technology to keep offerings current and relevant with knowledge of current pop culture Support library operations by filing documents, maintaining accurate records, and troubleshooting software issues related to library management systems. Collect data on program participation and patron preferences to inform future planning and improve service delivery through effective communication skills. Qualifications Strong writing skills with the ability to create engaging program descriptions, promotional materials, and reports. Experience with databases, cataloging procedures, and integrated library systems essential for managing collections efficiently. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Proficient computer skills including data entry, software troubleshooting, typing accuracy, and familiarity with common office applications. Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly approach to assisting diverse patrons of all backgrounds. Knowledge of library services for young adults along with research skills to stay informed about current trends in youth culture. Ability to perform filing tasks accurately while managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
