GENERAL SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, oversees Homework Services and other K- 12 programming and/or services by working with internal and external partners and creating educational curriculum to be used in Homework Centers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include: Knowledge of youth literature and developmental programming to promote youth literacy and learning. Knowledge of young adult developmental needs in areas of workforce skills as applicable to branch tutors. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and succeed in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment. Excellent communication skills including the writing skills necessary to create programming support materials and the presentation skills needed to promote programs to groups of all sizes. Computer literate with ability to use library software, email and Microsoft Office programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Library's policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including (but not limited to) work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality. Assess youth participating in our Research study using the ODE approved software owned by the library system. Participates in the hiring and training of Homework Center Coordinators, Mentors and Branch Tutors at all Homework Center locations in order to sustain consistency system-wide. Collaborates with Public Service Librarians and school districts to assure Homework Services are fully utilized. Participates and coordinates with partner Universities for the hiring of work study tutors at no cost to Cuyahoga County Public Library System. Trains branch tutors, College work study tutors and participates in the training of volunteers as needed. Assist in the selection and purchasing of supplies and resources in the Homework Center. Creates curriculum and resources to be used in Educational programming or services such as the Homework Centers, 123 Read and Summer Camps. Conducts site visits to support, advise, assist and train branch Homework Center Staff, Coordinators, Mentors and Tutors. Utilizes Survey Monkey for report generation and manipulation. Assists the Youth Programming Manager in the procurement and statistical tracking and reporting of food based supplies and programming in partnership with the Foodbank of Greater Cleveland. Verifies statistics and tracking are accurately reported on student registration, visits, topics, volunteers, tutors etc. and maintain reports. Other duties as assigned. Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required Master's degree in Library Science or Masters in Education. Two years of experience in curriculum development. Two years of experience in training.
OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED
Requires a valid Ohio driver's license, personal vehicle and in-force automobile insurance, for visiting branches and area functions. A criminal background check is required, and pre-employment drug screening.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional exposure to minor discomforts of outside weather conditions when traveling between various branches of CCPL. Light physical effort required including occasional lifting of light weight objects (up to approximately 25 pounds). Occasional minor discomforts from frequent use of a computer.
