Job Description

Job Description The University of Kentucky Libraries is vital to fulfilling the goals of enhancing and expanding the university's research enterprise, and we are looking for a tenure-track faculty librarian to serve as the Electronic Resources Librarian. The Electronic Resources Librarian reports to the Director of Acquisitions and Licensing and supervises the Electronic Resources Unit. The Electronic Resources Unit is responsible for managing licenses, electronic resource access, tracking usage, and providing support to users. The unit is involved in all aspects of electronic resources including trials, activation, maintenance, assessments, renewals, access, cancellations and management of post-cancellation rights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and supervision for the Electronic Resources Unit, which includes two full-time remote workers and, as needed, temporary employees, graduate students and student workers. Develop, refine, and maintain workflows that ensure users receive seamless, reliable, and user-friendly access to the university's electronic resources. Assess and monitor electronic resources to ensure compliance with federal and state accessibility guidelines. Manage the full lifecycle of electronic resource acquisitions and renewals, including license negotiation, license record maintenance, development of best practices, and support for colleagues across the library system. Develop and manage effective data-gathering processes for pricing, usage, and other metrics that support collection assessment, budgeting, and reporting requirements. Partner with the Coordinator of Liaison Services and the Coordinator of Collection Strategies to enhance awareness and effective use of electronic resources. Work collaboratively with the Director of Acquisitions and Licensing and the Coordinator of Collection Strategies on evaluating, renewing, adjusting, and selecting electronic resources. Stay current with trends and emerging practices in electronic resource management, including licensing, access, troubleshooting, and related technologies. As a member of the UKL faculty, the Electronic Resources Librarian will participate in planning, shared governance, and in UK Libraries-wide faculty activities. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position and requires scholarship, ongoing professional development, and service that contributes to the effectiveness of UK Libraries, the University, and the profession.
