Job Description
The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for leading and overseeing access to and management of the library's digital resources. This includes working collaboratively with other managers and staff on the databases, discovery layer, LibGuides, website, and other resources, to ensure consistent, user-friendly access to the library's collections for student and faculty success. In addition, this position requires professional development activities per SUU policy.
Date of first consideration:
04/27/2026 Oversees the access to and management of the library's digital resources. Ensures access to and maintenance of the digital resources and smooth operation between front and back ends. Acts as the primary point of contact with electronic resource providers to resolve technical issues. Configures proxy servers (e.g., EZproxy), manages link resolvers (e.g., Alma/Primo), and troubleshoots access issues. Manages access to library resources through managing the discovery layer. Works closely with system vendors and IT to ensure a working system. Collaborates with the Resource Sharing Librarian to ensure seamless access to catalog resources through the discovery layer. Acts as a liaison with University Web Services to design, innovate, update, and maintain the library's website following best practices and university guidelines. Works with other Library departments to manage website content. Manages and maintains the LibGuides system in connection with the Library Instruction Team. With the help of the LibGuides Working Group, uses best practices for web design to create research guide templates to maintain the high quality of guides. Periodically audits guides and other pages to ensure content is accessible. Serve as a liaison to assigned academic departments, fostering communication between the library and faculty. Collaborate with faculty to ensure library collections support curriculum needs and "People, Purpose, and Place" initiatives of the university's strategic plan.Instruction and student support:
Teaches credit-bearing information literacy courses (e.g., INFO 1010, INFO 2010) and course-integrated library sessions across various disciplines. Provides research assistance and reference services to students and faculty via in-person, chat, and email consultations. Develop learning objects, tutorials, and guides that support the university's mission. Maintains scholarly activity and participation in institutional, professional, and community service as required for promotion, tenure, and retention under applicable departmental and University policies. Participate in library, university, and professional committees. Engage in professional development to stay current with trends in library public service, higher education, and instructional pedagogy. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Masters MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution. Relevant experience or class work in electronic resource management. Knowledge of current and emerging technology trends in higher education and library services. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with electronic resources, such as databases, LibGuides, and discovery layers Experience with Web Design. Familiarity with ILS systems (e.g., Koha), Link Resolvers, and authentication methods (SSO, IP), knowledge of industry standards, including COUNTER for usage data, and working knowledge of HTML/CSS, APIs, etc. Experience implementing and managing library technology. This position is contingent on funding.
