Job Description
Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) builds community by promoting the joy of reading and learning. Serving as the civic center of the community, LCPL provides free and equal access to a full variety of library resources and innovative technologies to enhance the quality of life and meet the informational, educational, and cultural interests of the entire community. Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill the Head of Children's Services position at the Brambleton Library. LCPL staff build community by providing exceptional library services and programs to customers of all ages and backgrounds. The Head of Children's Services will oversee the Children's Services department in the branch, supervise and evaluate staff, plan and conduct programs, serve as a member of the branch management team and ensure the daily delivery of high-quality services. Successful candidates will develop and nurture effective relationships with staff, customers and the community as well as: Foster a positive team whose performance and dedication are essential to the Library's mission. -Be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Be aware of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services. Possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. Location subject to change based on the needs of the operation. Hiring Salary is Commensurate with Experience. Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school required; two (2) years of related library experience preferably in public library centralized selection and collection development. One (1) year of supervisory experience is required. Progressively responsible professional library experience, with a substantial portion in children's or youth services preferred. Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test. Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required.
