Job Description

Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) is on the move, and we need a dynamic Part-Time Selector to ensure our collection keeps pace with changing demands and evolving needs. We're seeking an experienced librarian who thrives on the challenge of managing a diverse, innovative non-print collection for half a million diverse residents. As a leader in our Materials Services Division, you'll be the architect behind our shelves—keeping our offerings fresh, inclusive, and ahead of the curve. About This Role:
As our Media and Emerging Collections Selector, you will be the primary architect of a collection that informs and inspires. This role offers to opportunity to meet public demand for a wide variety of popular media including DVDs and Blu Rays, tablets and portable audio devices, and other non-traditional collections. You will work in close collaboration with other PWPL Divisions and Public Services staff to identify potential future collections, research their compatibility with our practices and budget, and advocate for innovative new products to be added to the collection. This is an opportunity to help PWPL meet and anticipate evolving patron and community needs.
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in library and information science and 1 year of experience in collection development/selection.
Preferences:
Experience working in Public Libraries Experience using vendor websites such as Ingram ipage, library ILS, and online library tools such as OCLC WorldCat, Simply Reports, Collection HQ. Experience using collection analysis (statistics)
Special Requirements:
The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
