Closing Date The duties include but are not limited to: Develops and implements an effective twenty-first century library/media program.
Manages the acquisition of system print materials, including textbooks.
Manages the textbook adoption process in collaboration with content area supervisors.
Establishes clear goals and specific achievement objectives for the library/media program.
Maintains an effective library/media curriculum, program, services in elementary and secondary schools.
Aligns library/media program with student and school needs identified using academic data, library/media standards.
Models, assists, and monitors the implementation of the standards based library/media program.
Evaluates the library/media program and materials and human resources to direct and maintain an effective program.
Aligns the library/media program with content areas, program goals and student interests.
Coordinates library/media professional development and training.
Manages the District library and textbook management software.
Provides necessary assistance to implement and maintain system library/media automation and technology programs.
Administers and supervises usage of District ebook sites.
Identifies and responds to proposal and grant opportunities.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.
Prepares and administers library/media budget.
Responds to parent concerns and requests and all other stakeholders as appropriate.
Assumes any and all duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director of Academics.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid current Alabama Certification of Administration/ Supervision/Curriculum. Must have three (3) to five 5) years in a school library media center. - Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.•
