Summary of Job Duties:
The Extra Help Assistant-Library Student Worker is responsible for providing unskilled, semi-skilled labor or performing basic office tasks in a state agency or institution. Extra Help Assistant-Library Student Worker positions are part-time, non-benefits-eligible positions within Ottenheimer Library responsible for supporting various library services and initiatives. The position requires working 12-20 hours per week. Certain positions will require working nights and weekends. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or
Experience:
Must be currently enrolled at UA Little Rock; Formal education of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Job Duties:
Check library materials in and out; Retrieve and shelves books, journals, A/V materials, and microforms; Straighten, shift, and read shelves; Assist library users with library research and the application of technology; Assist library users with equipment such as computers, microform readers, and printers/copiers; Process Interlibrary Loan requests; Scan and deliver digital copies of library materials; Retrieve, process, and package incoming and outgoing mail through Mail Services; Create/edit documents, spreadsheets, graphs, and files; Attend and actively participate in scheduled training sessions and staff meetings; Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Knowledge of Library of Congress call number sequences; Knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace applications; Ability to follow instructions and perform detailed work; Ability to stand and walk for long periods, move book carts, and lift to 20 pounds; Ability to stoop, bend, and reach Aptitude for learning new technologies; Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
