Job Description

The East Hartford Public Library is seeking a part-time Public Service Manager to join our staffing rotation. Candidates must have availability on weekday evenings (5:00-8:00 PM) and/or weekends. Saturday shifts run from 9:30 AM-2:00 PM, and Sunday shifts run from 12:30-5:00 PM.

$25.50 an hour This position works under the general supervision of the Assistant Library Director. ? Maintains building order and security. Ability to keep current with new technologies and methods Working knowledge of public computing environment Ability to work effectively with library staff, patrons, and community partners Ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve Ability to interact with the public and employees in a courteous and professional manner Skill in resolving confidential/sensitive situations Ability to manage and supervise subordinate staff Familiarity with the ethics and values of the profession, including an understanding of the Library Bill of Rights, the ALA Code of Ethics, freedom of information, confidentiality of library records, and privacy issues. Minimum one year work experience in a library, non-profit, or equivalent community agency Preference for supervisory experience Preference for work experience in a Library Connection library
