POSITION SUMMARY
Establishes and operates an effective media program which supports the organizational goals of the school. Manages the school media program, develops and maintains the media collection, and provides services to facilitate the instructional process. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans collaboratively with school faculty for information access skills instruction and to incorporate resources into instruction. Assists in selection, location, and use of media materials. Promotes the effective use of instructional technologies in teaching and learning. Conducts inservice activities for faculty. Participates in formation and ensures convening of media committee to guide media plan, policies, and procedures. Conducts, evaluates, and revises media plan activities. Ensures flexible scheduling of the media center facility, resources, and staff to provide services to groups and individuals. Supervises staff and volunteers working in the media center. Analyzes and improves collection based on curriculum objectives. Selects media consistent with policy and needs. Ensures processing, cataloging, and shelving of media. Inspects, maintains, and weeds media collection. Maintains automated circulation and retrieval system. Maintains accurate collection and circulating equipment inventory. Maintains accurate financial records. All other duties as assigned, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in School Library Media required. Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred. Georgia teaching certificate (S-5 or above) as required by the Professional Standards Commission. Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer. Normal school setting primarily in the Library. Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less. The 2026-2027 salary scales are not yet available.
