Job Description

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Routinely work at the Children's Desk answering phone calls, checking out material, helping patrons locate material, and aiding patrons with simple reference and reader's advisory questions, with assistance from the Children's Librarian as needed. Assist and instruct patrons in the use of library resources including downloading digital content, using publicly available technology (computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax, etc.) in scheduled group programs or one-on-one training sessions. Assist with basic collection and Children's Department material maintenance such as shelf reading, shelving materials, keeping toys neat, restocking book displays with appropriate material, etc. Create and maintain Children's Department displays, bulletin boards, and display cases. Assist in the planning and presentation of literature-based and multimedia programs including puppetry, drama, crafts, and storytelling for children. Assist in the coordination and implementation of community outreach, school programs, and Library-wide campaigns, including the annual Summer Reading Program. Participate in mobile library outreach services by accompanying the Mobile Library to schools, community events, and outreach locations; assisting patrons with library services; promoting library programs and resources; and supporting the circulation of materials. Participate in cross-training to support other library departments as needed, including assisting with inventorying books and materials. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent degree is preferred. Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Use technology and computer programs such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. Readily adapt to change and willingness to ask questions. Serve and work with all ages and abilities. Communicate well with co-workers, Team Leads, and Administration in both written and verbal communication.
