Job Description

Responsible for assisting the Library Director and Assistant by providing a learning environment for students, employees, and community members through access to library collections, resources and knowledge; enabling them to achieve their information needs through research and accomplishing learning goals. Responsible for assisting with Library Services on the Harrison and/or Mt. Pleasant campuses. Provides Assists Library Assistant(s) by working collaboratively with the Library Director for collection development. Maintains the circulation desk including; issuing library cards, student/employee ID cards, answering questions, updating records, and sorting and shelving material. Assists individuals and groups providing references or specific research and bibliographic training. Provides training to student classrooms on electronic databases, internet, and electronic library software. Assists the Library Director and Assistant(s) with interlibrary loan services and laptop/Kindle checkout. This includes working with both Horizon and Innovative for incoming and outgoing holds. Assists Library Assistant(s) by scheduling breakout rooms per requests for each campus. Attends departmental meetings. Assists Faculty with Windows Media Center. Provides tours of the library and assists with orientations. Assists with the Library website and creation/editing of online tutorials. Provides assistance to the Director of Library by performing clerical duties and additional directed tasks. Assists the Library Director and Assistant(s) with student tracking. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines. Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College's Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations .
Education, Certification, Licensure:
High School diploma and enrolled in college course work.
Experience:
Previous work experience in a community college environment preferred. Previous work in a library preferred. Previous experience working with adult students preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written format, with various constituencies including students, faculty, administrators, and community members. Ability to work as a member of a team. Strong customer service skills; ability to listen and resolve complaints in a timely and effective manner. Ability to work effectively in a high volume fast paced environment with accuracy. Computer skills and previous work experience using several applications to include word processing, creating and manipulating spreadsheets, posting and navigating websites, data entry, library databases.
