Job Description
2026 Part-Time Library Assistant The Indian River Area Library is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic part-time Library Assistant. Library Assistants are the backbone of the library and handle much of the day-to-day activities necessary to keep the library organized and active in the community. Training will be provided. If you have a passion for books and customer service, this position is waiting for you. The Library The Indian River Area Library serves slightly over 4,000 Tuscarora Township residents and surrounding communities. The library actively addresses changing community needs by providing current, accessible materials and information services for children and adults in a professional and helpful manner. Our mission and vision are to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages community engagement and continually evolve to best meet our patrons' information needs. Responsibilities
- Processes, sorts, organizes, and shelves library materials. Assists with maintenance of library collections.
- Provide prompt, courteous phone and in-person service to patrons to meet their needs including research assistance, readers advisory, placing, finding and retrieving book requests, computer assistance, printing, etc., and providing exceptional customer service to create a welcoming environment.
- Assist librarians in preparation for and management of programs, including Summer and Winter Reading programs, adult, teen and children's programs.
- Help create and maintain library material displays throughout the library.
- Understands and clearly explains library rules, policies, and procedures to the public as required and resolves patron issues as needed.
- Supports activities that encourage children, teens, and families to participate in library programs and services.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Other duties/projects may be assigned by the librarian. Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Proficient computer skills including typing speed, software troubleshooting, and familiarity with research tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Previous experience working in a library, bookstore, or other similar environment
- Previous customer service experience
- Strong writing skills for documentation, reports, and communication with patrons and team members.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. Fixed Hours
- Mondays; 10 a.m.
- 5:30 p.m.
- Tuesdays; 10 a.m.
- 7 p.m.
- Wednesdays; 10 a.m.
- 5:30 p.
Job Type:

$14.00- $16.
