Youth Library Early Literacy Coordinator Position Starting salary: Dependent upon experience Lillian DesMarias Youth Library, a branch location of the Livingston County Library, has the Early Literacy Coordinator position open. Duties include facilitating early literacy programming for ages 0-5, develop rapport with parents/caregivers, and facilitating the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. Duties also include circulation desk responsibilities and offering great customer service. This will be high-energy, multitasking, detail-oriented, full-time position up to 40 hours weekly. If you are willing to sing, chant, and dance with toddlers while they learn the joy of reading this position is for you on the Library Team. Minimum requirements of this position are:

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college is helpful and preferred; however, this job could be performed by an intelligent, well-organized person with appropriate experience working with young children.
• An advanced familiarity with the library's collection of fiction, non-fiction and reference materials
• Maintain an understanding and appreciation of children's reading skills and the concerns of parents and other adults who work with children.
• Good communication skills and customer service skills
• Computer skills
• A background screening will be mandatory. Preferred requirements of this position are:
• One (1) years or more experience working with early literacy learning for ages 0-4 years and their parents/caregivers.

The position would be full time, up to 40 hours weekly with benefits available. Availability for evening and rotating Saturdays are a MUST.

Pay:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
