Job Description

St. Louis County Library The Acquisitions Department is seeking a full-time Library Associate to assist the Acquisitions & Collection Development department in ordering, tracking, purchasing, and receiving new material to maintain and enhance the collection. The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.
Salary:
$38,178.00
Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Researches customer purchase suggestions and submits reviews and vendor information to the Selectors to determine if materials should be added to the collection. 2. Works with Library vendors to place or cancel orders, track shipments, and resolve problems with invoices. 3. Resolves customer holds request issues in order to get materials to the customer quickly and accurately. 4. Assists Public Service Managers and Collection Development Specialists as needed to maintain and enhance the Library collection. 5. Exhibits flexibility in performing a variety of office tasks to ensure smooth flow of material into the collection.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum completion of 60 hours college Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service Must possess excellent communication and organization skills Must possess a high level of attention to detail

Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ability to push a full cart of books or other Library materials Ability to sit for a majority of the work day Ability to keyboard for a minimum of six hours daily Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to operate various types of Library equipment Ability to use a pc, word processing, and e-mail Ability to use databases and content management software Ability to perform accurate data entry duties
