Job Description

Position Title Library Associate - Public Services Unit Name Library Salary Grade 4 Number of Months 12 months Full-time or Part-time Full-Time Hours per week 40 Proposed Annual Salary, Hourly Rate or One-time payment Essential Duties Instructs patrons on the use of research databases and other resources Provides some writing and citation support for students composing papers Assists patrons with finding appropriate library materials, print and electronic Assists patrons with Word, Powerpoint, and Excel Staffs the virtual reference service, providing research and technical support online Operates, troubleshoots, and performs minor repairs to computers and office equipment Checks library material in and out Collects fines Assists patrons with interlibrary loan and holds requests Participates in supervision and hiring of student workers Assists in managing study room reservations Maintains an orderly appearance of library materials and resources Assists in the creation of virtual reference tools and guides Assists in general building supervision during evening hours Performs other reasonable duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred; professional knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree required; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field.
Experience:
At least one year of research or technical support experience. Excellent research skills Proficient in MS Word, Powerpoint, and Excel Excellent computer skills Ability to troubleshoot routine computer hardware issues

Job Description Summary This position is responsible for providing circulation, basic reference, and technical support for MUW, MSMS and the general public at Fant Memorial Library, as well as related circulation duties and student assistant supervision, and general building supervision from Sunday - Thursday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Hours may shift when classes are not in session.
