Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, mornings, one evening per week, every other weekend In partnership with the community, the Greensboro Public Library (GPL) provides free and equal access to information, fosters lifelong learning and inspires the joys of reading. GPL, recognized as the parent organization of the City of Greensboro's Libraries/Museum Department, is comprised of eight library locations and the Greensboro History Museum. Our employees pride themselves on delivering quality customer experiences, nurturing relationships, and curating rich print and digital collections, all in an effort to make meaningful, measurable, and desirable differences in the lives of our customers and the community as a whole.Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Programs Assistant will be assigned to the Central Library, but the library reserves the right to transfer employees to other library locations as required by service needs. The selected applicant will be responsible for providing interactive quality customer service. The work environment is very busy, requiring energetic individuals very skilled at collaborating with diverse staff and customers. The employee in this position must be able to assist with many staffing needs including programming, cashier duties, shelving, maintaining the appearance of all materials, technology assistance, reference questions, reader's advisory, and resource assistance. The physical duties include; lifting, pushing (40 lb.), stooping, walking, standing, and using step stools. This employee must maintain a reliable means of contact ( i.e. home or cellular phone) and must be able to work the hours required which include weekday mornings, evenings, and weekend hours. under FLSA.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years' work experience with computers, including MS Word, Office, Internet 2+ year's face-to-face customer service experience in a library or retail environment An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications): 1+ years of working in a library Experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS)Similar remote jobs
