Schedule & Pay:
12 hours per week Includes some work during the week and a 3-hour shift every other Saturday and Sunday $15.54 per hour Applications will receive a first review beginning June 19 and will remain open until filled. The City of Norfolk Public Library is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Library Page to assist with shelving, organizing materials, and helping maintain a welcoming environment for library patrons. Under the direction and supervision of the Circulation Supervisor, the Library Page helps keep library materials organized and ensures the facility is prepared for public use.
Key Responsibilities:
Shelve library materials in their proper locations, including straightening shelves and shelfreading as needed Check shelves for overdue or missing items Pull and re-shelve library materials as directed Assist in keeping the library neat, organized, and ready for public use Direct patrons to appropriate locations or staff members for assistance Empty the book drop, check in materials, and organize returned items on carts as needed Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Understanding of libraries and library operations preferred Ability to organize materials alphabetically and by Dewey Decimal classification Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective communication and customer service skills Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public Ability to push and pull carts loaded with library materials Basic computer knowledge preferred
