None Category Student Description Position Summary:
The Library Student Worker supports daily library operations by assisting staff and providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and visitors. This role includes circulation support, basic research assistance, and specialized tasks within archives and special collections.
Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer phone calls and direct them as needed in a professional and courteous manner. Check out, check in, and renew library materials using the library system. Provide basic research assistance and guide patrons in locating resources. Assist with research in the Archives and Special Collections area under staff supervision. Retrieve requested materials and accurately shelve books and other items. Maintain organization and cleanliness of library book stacks. Perform final checks on new library materials and make corrections as needed. Staff the Information Desk and respond to general library and campus-related questions. Assist the Reference Librarian at the Information Desk as needed. Support all library staff with projects, tasks, and daily operations as assigned.
Qualifications:
Current student in good standing at the university. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle materials carefully, especially in archives and special collections. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Preferred Skills (Optional): Previous customer service experience. Familiarity with library systems, archives, or research tools.
Work Environment:
Indoor, office/library setting. May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting light to moderate materials.
