Hodgson Russ LLP, a regional law firm with 230+ attorneys in 10 offices, is seeking an Assistant Reference Librarian to join our busy Library team, resident in the Buffalo office. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting research, knowledge management, special projects, and information service functions. Essential responsibilities include, but not limited to: Provide legal and non‑legal reference and research services, including conducting background research on potential clients, industries, and subject‑specific topics. Manage electronic and print library resources, including maintenance of the print collection through filing loose-leaf updates and pocket parts; shelving periodicals and returned materials; and performing collection shifting and weeding as needed. Checking in serials and other materials, creating and editing records in the library database (Soutron). Create and monitor alerts for news, cases, companies, and various topics. Assist in maintaining and enhancing the Library and Research Services intranet pages. To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to meet deadlines, identify and anticipate needs, and follow through. ALA accredited degree in Library and Information Science, with one year experience working in a library setting; law firm experience preferred. Proficiency in using legal and non-legal research services such as Westlaw and Lexis; ability to learn numerous secondary online services such as Bloomberg Law, RIA Checkpoint, VitalLaw, and Hein Online. The good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position, if the successful applicant is based in Buffalo is $49,237 to $60,450.
