JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Library Services, the Library Page provides front-line customer service to Library Patrons through circulation duties (checking books in/out), assisting patrons with finding items, maintaining good order of library shelves, assisting with computer questions, and other tasks as assigned. Subject to working flexible schedules (17 hours per week); Saturdays required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVES
direct supervision from the Director of Library Services. Received scheduling and daily assignments from the Library Coordinator and Library Clerk

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide Exceptional Customer Service Interacts with Library patrons in a pleasant, professional manner. Answer basic Patron inquiries, referring Patrons to other staff when necessary. Assists Library Patrons in checking books in and out. Provides computer, print, scanning, and faxing services. Locates Library items when patrons require assistance. Provide information via phone and email. Library Maintenance Shelving of Library items and maintenance of the library collection. Shelf reading of the assigned section to ensure books are in proper order. Empty the book drop and check in items periodically throughout the shift. Facing (straightening) Library shelves. Maintenance of children's learning materials (picking up, organizing, etc.) Clean and Sanitize Clean and sanitize children's learning materials and the room Clean patron restrooms as needed Clean floors: vacuum, sweep, mop, and spot clean carpets and floors Sanitize hard surfaces (doorknobs, counters, tables, chairs, etc.) Other Duties Move and arrange furniture for programs and events Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Knowledge of:
Basic computer applications, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Small office equipment (telephone, copy/fax machines)
Skills and Abilities:
Effective oral and written communication. Ability to follow oral and written directions Resolving customer complaints and concerns. Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively. Represent the public image of the City of Belton in a positive manner. Work with young children, teens, adults, and senior citizens with patience and understanding. Exercise judgment and utilize discretion with tact. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Flexibility and adaptability to change and new ideas Flexible work schedule Available to work Saturdays Be punctual and regular in attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a public library environment. Work requires medium physical demands occurring daily including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects and the following physical abilities: walking, standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, reaching/overhead reaching, pushing/pulling, keyboarding, lifting/carrying, repetitive data entry. Low to moderate exposure to stressful situations and loud noises. Subject to working flexible schedules; Saturdays required.
