Senior Library Assistant

This position provides excellent customer service to library visitors, as well as assisting professional staff with programming and collection activities. Duties include assisting customers with checking out and registering for library cards; answering account inquiries; advising and assisting with library resources such as online databases and digital material, library catalog and other technical resources; providing computer technical assistance and troubleshooting issues with public computers, printers, copiers and other equipment or machinery; training staff members and volunteers; updating and maintaining publications and other library material; and explaining library policies and procedures to ensure that customers have a positive and safe library experience. Duties may also include planning and implementing programs and teaching classes; participating in outreach activities; supporting reader's advisory services; and / or processing payments and cash reports. Duties typically will require lifting up to 60 pounds frequently. An Associate degree or equivalent and two years of relevant experience required. Bilingual (English / Spanish) skills beneficial. Hours vary and will include some evenings and weekends. Applicants must submit a résumé with the application.
