Job Description
The Morning Library Supervisor reports to the Assistant Director of Public Services and provides leadership for the Public Services department of the Library Services, including supervising part-time staff at the Public Services desk; conducting hiring, training, and performance evaluations; overseeing as well as performing circulation duties, assisting with the Redwood Course Reserves Collection, and supporting financial and daily operations of the Markosian Library café. Up to 125 hours per month: between 25-28 hours a week. Standard Work Schedule during the academic semester:

STAFF SUPERVISION AND PUBLIC FACING LIBRARY SUPPORT
Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and performing daily opening activities. Responsible for maintaining or improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas within the Public Services Department Hire, supervise and train part time library staff. Fills in for staff to provide desk coverage for breaks, vacations, and sick days. When working with staff, model professionalism, demeanor, and skill level that are expected from library staff. Support staff development and job performance through the bi-annual Growth, Planning, and Support (GPS) process. Perform Circulation duties as needed. This includes Answering basic library information questions, checking library materials in and out and re-shelving materials according to LC classification system Monitor and support daily building operations including maintaining a welcoming and clean environment at the Redwood library. Resolve circulation issues with library patrons and applicable SLCC departments. Receives café orders and works with staff to ensure that deliveries are accurate and promptly put away as needed. Approve staff timecards twice a month. Provide backup timecard coverage for other Public Services Supervisors.PUBLIC SERVICES DIVISION SUPPORT
Works collaboratively with Afternoon and Evening Desk supervisors to ensure adequate staff coverage. This also includes collaborative efforts to ensure the smooth daily operations of the Redwood Library. Serves as the Cash Fund Custodian for the Redwood Library. This includes updating the Cash Fund Agreement, managing sales, performing sales deposits and point of contact for biannual deposits. Also oversees cash handling procedures training and reporting for all Redwood PS staff. Generates and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly branch usage statistics to be used in library, state, and federal reports•Manages Library Laptop Lending program each semester. This includes processing laptops for use, collaboration with SLCC IT department, digitizing student contracts, communication with students, and ensuring accurate records are maintained. Coordinates staffing or provide staffing to support library outreach efforts each semester in coordination with the Student Success Librarian. Support annual collection inventory at the Markosian library Work collaboratively colleagues between SLCC Library Services branches to ensure consistency in policies and procedures. Attends monthly division and all-staff library meetings. Serves and supports the activities carried out by the library website committee. Keeps library operating hours current and up-to date in library website and with the SLCC Key Office. Serve as faculty contact for course reserve material at the Redwood Library. Support, update, and maintain Course Reserve operations at Redwood to ensure that records are accurate and up to date. Customer service skills. Works well with others. Able to function in academic library environment. In-depth knowledge of library computer systems. Experience in sales management and operations Ability to train others in the use of library computer systems. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Associates degree or two years college. Two years working in a library setting. Supervisory experience. Spanish speaking.
