Library Assistant III Job Duties:
Performs a wide range of complex library services which support the day-to-day operations to provide access to information resources in a variety of formats. Hires, trains, and guides student employees. This position plays a vital role in supporting the student-centered services of the Library & Learning Center, by being the first point of contact for students in need of Library & Learning Center services, and helps ensure a welcoming, well-coordinated, and productive learning environment. The position is responsible for answering directional and referral questions, offering brief research support, assisting students with scheduling appointments with research librarians, academic success coaches, or peer tutors, coordinating the hold shelf, and connecting students to other campus resources. This position also coordinates student employment for the Division, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and project coordination for all student employees.Key Job Responsibilities:
Hires, trains, and guides student employees and monitors student workflows Provides complex library services support in absence of a supervisory authority. Acts as a resource to other library staff Utilizes library software and systems to retrieve, enter, and report on data using a wide variety of applications Conducts reference searches to locate relevant materials and answer questions as needed Contributes to the development of policies and procedures Provides complex support to the day-to-day operations of library services to provide guidance in the use of library information resources, operations, and policies; or to acquire, prepare, and preserve library information resources for use Utilizes designated library systems, tools, standards, and practices to locate, retrieve, and organize; or describe, edit, preserve, and reformat a variety of library information resources Interprets policies and procedures to answer non-routine questions and resolve complex issues May assist and educate both face-to-face and remote customers in the use of technologies and tools to create, seek, use, and manage information Participates in committee work within the library and the universityDepartment:

Minimum compensation of $20.00/hr. This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of library operations, and information resources Experience supervising part-time/temporary employees or students Experience providing research assistance to library patrons Experience in higher education Experience managing multiple projects Experience with budget monitoring Strong technical skills, including use of Microsoft Office applicationsConditions of Appointment:
Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM, Monday through Friday on the Green Bay campus. A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A six-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.
