Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Algebra that enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning aligned to state standards.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with Mathematics certification (Grades 7-12 or appropriate level)
Experience:
Student teaching or approved internship
Experience teaching secondary mathematics preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the Texas Education Agency TEKS for Algebra
Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
Use data-driven instruction to adjust teaching strategies and improve student outcomes
Incorporate technology and real-world applications into lessons
Classroom Management
Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
Manage student behavior in accordance with district and campus expectations
Promote a safe and respectful learning environment
Assessment & Data
Design and administer formative and summative assessments
Analyze student performance data to guide instruction
Prepare students for state assessments such as STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams
Student Support
Provide tutoring, intervention, and enrichment opportunities
Monitor student progress and communicate with parents/guardians regularly
Participate in ARD, 504, and RTI meetings as required
Professional Responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs (Professional Learning Communities)
Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development
Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, and lesson plans
Comply with all district, campus, and state policies
Working Conditions
Classroom environment with regular standing, walking, and use of technology
May include after-school tutorials, meetings, and school events
Performance Expectations
Demonstrate growth in student academic achievement
Maintain effective classroom management
Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and adherence to district standards
Additional Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administration
Salary is commensurate with experience
Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers
Works 187 Days
Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
