Immediately Job Description Job Description/Responsibilities of GT Resource Teacher 1. Has an awareness of and a willingness to provide for the special needs of gifted students. 2. Works with the director and other GT staff in the development of a suitable curriculum for the gifted program. 3. Assumes responsibility for the students during the gifted and talented resource class times. 4. Creates an environment to encourage creativity, self-expression and exploration of diverse areas of interest. 5. Maintains accurate records necessary for the program operation. Is aware and follows GT Rules and Regulations as outlined in the district program approval process by DESE. 6. Processes the identification procedures at assigned schools and at other district schools as needed. 7. Conducts conferences with parents and/or other teachers. 8. Uses a variety of teaching methods appropriate for the gifted student; adapts instructional procedures and materials to meet the specific needs of the gifted student. 9. Informs the classroom teacher of the activities and progress of the students involved. 10. Demonstrates expertise in the management of large group, small group and individualized instruction. 11. Is available to conduct inservice about the gifted and talented program; interprets the program and its purpose to teachers, parents and community. 12. Participates in professional staff development to increase knowledge about the gifted and ways in which their needs may be met; reads professional literature in the field of gifted education. 13. Coordinates and writes recommendations for students applying for summer programs and other student opportunities. 14. Attends and participates in state and national conferences in the field of gifted education. 14. Must be certified as a GT teacher for grades K-12 and be licensed in the state of Arkansas, or be working to obtain certifications.Position Type:
