The CAC Secondary Campus Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing instruction in high school mathematics for students in grades 10-12 or 6-9. This includes instruction in mathematics disciplines, including foundational math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and advanced secondary mathematics, such as precalculus, calculus, and college algebra. Teachers are entrusted with advancing CAC's mission and vision. In collaboration with the MS/HS School Leadership Team, teachers are responsible for the development and execution of standards-aligned curriculum and instructional strategies that lead to student growth and achievement as measured by standards-based assessments. Essential Functions Function 1: Provide for the development of curriculum, instructional design, and assessment practices that guide and promote teacher effectiveness and student learning Function 2: Ensure that the school has resources and provides services that support student success Function 3: Implement a comprehensive assessment system of student learning and school effectiveness to guide continuous improvement Function 4: Oversee the administration of school policies and procedures that govern student behavior and all student non-academic programs and services Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools. Teach a variety of mathematics courses, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, and differential equations. Design assessments that accurately measure student understanding and prepare students for standardized testing. Foster an engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes active participation, curiosity, and collaboration among students. Manage classroom behavior effectively through proactive behavior management techniques and clear expectations. Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support diverse learning needs, including special education students. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to enhance educational quality. Mentor students in scientific research projects or math competitions to cultivate their analytical skills and passion for STEM fields. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessments while ensuring compliance with school policies. Professional Expectations Support the school's Statement of Faith, Community Covenant, Mission, Philosophy, Goals, Policies, and Procedures Deliberately and consistently align decisions and actions with the school's mission Demonstrate spiritual leadership and maturity Show evidence of professional standards of presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion Maintain professional credentials and/or certification Complete a minimum of 36 hours of approved professional development each year Keep current in scholarship on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the purposes of Christian education Skills Strong knowledge of mathematics subjects including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, and higher education teaching experience preferred. Proficiency in learning technology tools for instruction and assessment purposes. Excellent communication skills for effective classroom management and student engagement. Ability to design lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles and align with educational standards. Skilled in working with students of varying abilities, including those requiring accommodations. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies to support student success. Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with the ability to foster a positive learning environment. Experience working within private school settings is advantageous.
