Summary:
The NBFA Math Instructional Coach must be committed to and advocate for its mission to provide students a meaningful, high-quality education through experience-based learning that helps develop essential social, emotional and critical-thinking skills. This gives all children a foundation to achieve their full potential at every stage of life. The Math Instructional Coach provides instructional leadership and support to improve mathematics teaching and learning across the school. This role focuses on building teacher content knowledge, strengthening instructional practice, supporting implementation of the school's adopted math program, and using data to improve student outcomes. The coach works collaboratively with teachers, grade-level teams, and school leaders to promote high-quality, standards-aligned mathematics instruction.
Principal Responsibilities:
Provide math instructional leadership and support to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning across the school Support teachers in the effective implementation of NBFA's adopted math program through job-embedded coaching, demonstration lessons, individual consultation, and professional development Build teacher capacity in mathematics by strengthening content knowledge, instructional practice, and the effective use of high-quality instructional materials Share research-based guidance on effective and innovative math practices and help teachers identify appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve outcomes for all students Support teachers in creating engaging, interactive classroom environments and implementing recommendations for instructional improvement Collaborate with grade-level teams, data teams, Professional Learning Communities, and school leaders to analyze student data, strengthen instructional planning, share best practices, and enhance the overall instructional environment Promote interdisciplinary connections by supporting the integration of math instruction across content areas, when appropriate Monitor student growth and help ensure that instruction is responsive to student needs and aligned to grade-level expectations, subject-area standards, and program requirements Meet regularly with administrators to review benchmark and other assessment data and evaluate progress toward instructional goals Prepare required forms, records, and reports, and attend meetings, trainings, and professional learning sessions as directed
Certification, Knowledge and Skills:
Current Connecticut teacher certification required, including endorsement 305 and either 029 or 229 Demonstrated mastery of mathematics content and the ability to effectively share best practices to help colleagues achieve instructional goals Understanding that all work responsibilities are subject to performance goals and/or targets established through Board and school organizational planning Strong belief in NBFA's mission and willingness to work diligently to positively impact student outcomes Candidates fluent in spoken and written Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese are encouraged to apply
