BUILDING PRINCIPAL SUMMARY
To provide the leadership and expertise needed to make the teaching team most effective in the provision of the educational program for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate all activities of the teaching team. Coordinate interdisciplinary units of study with the teaching team. Conduct team meetings regularly. Assume responsibility for the continual improvement of the quality of instruction provided by the team. Oversee and coordinate the clerical work of the team. Assist with the master schedule and any individual teacher scheduling problems. Assume responsibility for the development and implementation of resource files for the team. Coordinate the creation and development of special curriculum materials. Encourage team members in the use of new methods and materials. Offers in-service workshops that are deemed useful by the teachers of the team. Meets periodically with other team leaders to discuss new materials and programs, evaluate present programs and consider problems of mutual concern. Assume responsibility for generating solutions to problems of concern. Attend pertinent conferences and conventions and share information with team members. Meet and confer with parents as necessary. Assist members of the team in evaluation of all students. Serve as a member of the mentor support team for new and beginning teachers. Analyze multiple student data as a means for improving instruction. Assist colleagues in identifying, collecting and analyzing student data.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises classroom and students (volunteers and parent helpers where appropriate). Performs general supervisory duties as scheduled.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree. (Masters Degree for certain positions). Additional credits required for completion of certification requirements. Demonstrate instructional leadership qualities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write memos, reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS
: Basic knowledge and experience with standard hardware and software applications. Ability to use computer for E-mail, word processing, accounting, databases and presentations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIE S
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and teaching competencies to instructional program. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies and the code of professional responsibility for teachers.
