The Instructional Coach•K-5 Math, along with other campus-based content-area leaders, will be the primary drivers of a professional development model in order to improve teacher practice and increase student achievement. The Instructional Coach•K-5 Math reports to the Principal at the assigned campus and is responsible for content-area expertise in K-5 Mathematics. Instructional coaches are responsible for developing and facilitating content-specific, school-based learning teams that engage in a weekly cycle of lesson planning, content knowledge development, formative observations, and student work analysis; as well as individually coaching teachers to develop their knowledge and skills in a specific content area. The instructional Coach does not supervise or evaluate staff.Key Responsibilities :
Content-Area Expert & Collaborative Leadership Content-Area Expertise:
Act as the campus expert for learning standards, pedagogy, lesson planning, and vertical articulation in the area of K-5 Mathematics.Practical Implementation Knowledge:
Bridge theory and practice, ensuring teachers have the tools and the "know-how" to help every student thrive academically and socially-emotionally.Professional Learning Architect:
In partnership with the leadership team, design and facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and professional development sessions that include weekly cycles of lesson planning, content knowledge development, formative observations, and student work analysis. Foster collaboration and teacher leadership.Instructional Vision:
As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), articulate a clear instructional vision alongside the principal with a school-wide focus on teaching and learning that is data-driven, standards-aligned and rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with all members of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to ensure high expectations for teacher planning and lesson delivery are consistently upheld across the campus.Teacher Development Coaching Cycles:
Lead high-impact coaching cycles with a dedicated cohort of 8-10 teachers. Support teachers' achievement of goals, as needed, by effectively employing coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing instructional practices to the teacher (for example, co-planning, modeling, and observing).Side-by-Side Support:
Co-plan and model lessons with teachers to show exactly what "best practice" looks like in a live classroom.Observation and Feedback Cycles:
Analyze teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work. Provide clear and direct feedback to teachers based on analysis of practice. Track student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching.Data-Driven Achievement Data-Driven Strategist:
Regularly review and analyze student achievement data to guide teachers in their instructional responses, identify trends across classrooms and grade-levels, and recommend evidence-based interventions as a key member of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process.Data Monitoring:
Regularly analyze student performance data to identify gaps and monitor the progress of sub-groups (SPED, ML). Select data sets for grade level teams to analyze and respond to as a part of team data cycles.Develop Data Skills:
Facilitate and provide protocols for academic data-driven decision making at the leadership, grade and classroom level. Develop teachers' capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning. School Wide Support Attend (when relevant) and support pre-planned evening events throughout the year such as celebrations of student learning and Back to School Night, as needed. Serve as a member of the campus-based testing team, providing logistical support as needed regarding test administration including GOLD, NWEA/MAP, etc. Attend family events such as orientation, prospective parent information sessions, family potlucks, etc. Meet with supervisor to evaluate progress, growth and performance using Mundo Verde's evaluation process. Support school safety by assisting with student arrival and dismissal procedures and as a member of the school emergency response team. Covering staff duties as needed, in the instance of staffing shortages. Perform other related duties, as necessary, to support the team's goals and objectives.Successful Traits:
